“I’ve been mixing since 1998. I learned to mix by playing mostly house
and tech-house from the mid to late 90’s.
Around 2000, I started playing hard trance, hard house, and NRG. These styles exploded during those
years. Guys like BK, Nick Sentience,
the Organ Donors, and OD404 put out a lot of good music. I enjoyed those years, played at a few
small shows, threw a few shows myself, and mixed constantly on my decks. Time progresses.
Things change. After I moved to
NYC, I pretty much forgot about electronic music. I’m not really sure why, impulse perhaps, I
started listening to the music that got me started, house and
tech-house. Specifically, it was one
album that I had on vinyl, now long gone, that got me back into house
music. It was Terry Lee Brown’s
Chocolate Chords album. It was like
hearing it again for the first time.
Electronic music is better today than it ever has
been. New technologies allow so much
flexibility. The list of artists putting out great tracks is endless. The older tracks, from the 90’s and early
2000’s, are being brought back to life by really great artists. It is a great time for electronic
music. All of that being said, I just hope you enjoy the music!” |
